Every graduating senior in Davis (DaVinci, DSIS, King and DHS) is welcome to celebrate at this All-night, alcohol and drug free party on Friday, June 8th from 9:30 pm- 5:00am. Visit davisgradnight.org  to purchase tickets. Tickets are $75.00 until February 1st. So get your tickets before prices go up. Ticket includes all activities, food, and raffle entry. 

 

Davis Parent University - Dan Siegel (The Yes Brain) event Jan 10, 2018

DPU's January 10, 2018 event with Dan Siegel, MD, New York Times bestselling author of The Yes Brain, at DHS’ Brunelle Hall, is currently sold out.  Ticket holders should arrive no later than 6:45pm, to guarantee their seat. Walk-ins are welcome and will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 6:50pm.  In past lectures, all walk-ins have been accommodated.  We hope to see you there!

 

PSAT Scores: Online scores are now available at https://studentscores.collegeboard.org/ , from 12/14 to 1/31/18. Paper scores reports will be available late January.

 

LICENSCED THERAPY DOGS ARE COMING TO DSHS!   With Finals Week and the holiday season upon us, we all might need some unconditional love!  If you’re in the need of some canine affection then please come to the Dance Room (door facing the P-wing and N-Wing courtyard) on THURSDAY, December 21st.  The dogs will arrive on campus right before the break between 3rd and 5th period finals – all are welcome at this time (10:15-10:35).  The dogs will be in the Dance Room for the entire 5th period final.  Thank you to the volunteers from Lend-a-Heart organization in Sacramento for bringing their pets (dogs will always be leashed with their owner).

 

CLUBS:

Semester two Club Grants are now available! If you want money for your club, apply now. Pick up an application in room N-1A.

 

CAREER:

ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS:  The Davis Chamber of Commerce will host a Job Readiness Fair on Wednesday, January 17 from 3:00 – 5:00 in the Brunelle Theater.  Come to the Fair to get expert advice on exploring your future career path, meet with local businesses about job opportunities, get resources to prepare you for your next job, learn interview skills, find out how to create a resume, and much more!  There will be free swag and raffle prizes!  Come to the Career Center to find out how to sign up for this fun and informative event!

 

SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS:  If you would you like to do research at UC Davis this summer, the UC Davis Young Scholars Program offers high achieving high school students the opportunity to participate in a six-week summer research program June 24 – August 4 in the biological and natural sciences.  Students will stay in a UCD dorm and conduct research, participate in lab work, go on field trips and earn five units of university credit.  Applications are due March 16.  Come to the Career Center for information about the program, fees, and financial assistance.

Davis Kids Klub is an after school recreation program at elementary schools surrounding DHS. If you would like to apply for a job or internship/volunteer hours throughout the week, please email daviskidsklub@aol.com.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1993 - The United Mine Workers approved a five-year contract that ended a strike that had reached seven states and involved some of the nation's biggest coal operators.

Calling all Football Players: There will be an off-season strength and conditioning meeting in the Davis High Weight Room today at 4pm. All students interested in playing football in the 2018 season should attend.

 

Wellness doesn’t just mean not being sick. Come by the DHS Library during 6th period to explore the concept of wellness with Abby, the school nurse. We’ll discuss topics like nutrition exercise and play some games. Make sure to sign – up on the DHS counseling page, stay Healthy DHS students!

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment and noticing the thoughts and sensations that arise. Who should practice mindfulness? Everyone who would like to feel calmer, more connected, and generally happier. Mindfulness training will be held in room O-5 from 2:45 to 3:15pm. For more information, contact Ms. Tabor in O-5.

Come cheer on the Davis High Varsity Girls & Boys teams as they take on rivals St. Francis & Jesuit on Friday, January 5. Girls play at 6pm and boys play at 7:30pm. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased from a varsity team member or via the DHS Finance Office and webstore. This is a fundraiser for the DHS basketball programs. See you at the game!
